Why choose Systune’s approach?

Systune is being built for a Mac owner who wants an explanation before a change. Start with a list of candidate files, inspect size and age, check the risk label, and confirm the actual removal plan. Careful and dangerous categories start switched off. A cleanup history records what happened, including interrupted runs.

That review extends beyond storage. Audit examines security configuration, while Tune groups 300 macOS preferences and saves a snapshot before applying changes. For someone who moves between a window and a terminal, the shared Rust core, CLI JSON output and full-screen TUI make Systune a particularly useful fit. These are reasons to choose the workflow, not evidence that it deletes more data or runs faster.

Where CleanMyMac is ahead

CleanMyMac ships today and includes malware detection and removal. Systune’s configuration audit serves a different purpose and is not antivirus. If built-in malware scanning is your deciding feature, CleanMyMac has a capability Systune does not currently provide. [2]

You can also choose an existing CleanMyMac distribution channel and try the released product before buying. Systune is still on a waitlist. Its direct-download release and separate planned Mac App Store edition need their own launch validation.

Compare the license, not just the headline

It would be inaccurate to call CleanMyMac subscription-only. MacPaw documents both subscription and one-time options, with different upgrade terms. Check the current store for your country and number of Macs. Systune’s planned US$39 direct license covers three Macs in one household and includes two years of updates. The first-100 waitlist giveaway includes future versions. [3]

Neither a purchase model nor a cleanup-category count proves an app is safer. Compare the files you can inspect, the permissions requested, the actions you can reverse and the features you actually need. We have not run a comparative speed, recovery or malware-detection benchmark.
